Why is my ADSL2 modem light continuously blinking?

If your WAN light on your ADSL2 modem is blinking, then you most likely have a connection issued between your modem and the Exchange. To begin with, ensure that there is no fault with the line by unplugging all other devices and the modem directly to the first phone socket. You may wish to try removing your ADSL in-line filter to make sure it's not faulty. If your WAN light is still blinking, you may need to call your local internet technician to check your internal wiring to your network boundary point. Also ask your technician for a service fault report so you can then issue the report to Optus. Generally it's best to cover yourself in terms of home wiring first.

Should you call Optus and they send a technician out and find problems with your internal cabling, they may still charge you the $200+ call out fee, and ask you to arrange your own 3rd party telephone technician to check your wiring, which means you may be paying more than expected.

Blinking WAN or Internet light on your modem, definately means there is line problem somewhere.
