We've been with Telstra Bigpond for a long time and recently decided to re contract with them specifically in order to upgrade our modem. All went well with the consultant with plan agreed upon with discounts and the like due to customer loyalty. The new modem arrived within days, which I thought was great service on their part. However upon trying to set it up it wouldn't connect. I rang through to their customer service and got hours worth of run around and poor service from their call centres! I was on hold forever! I ended up ringing through to disconnections (Australia based) and the customer service there was absolutely fantastic! it did take a couple of days but my issue was sorted! The lady there also ensured that I was getting charged the correct amounts for the service, as this hadn't been set up correctly in the first place! So great customer service IF you manage to talk to the right person, if not good luck! The service itself is quite good, a few drop outs here and there but generally ok.

I've been dealing with Telstra for many years. When I say many years, I'm talking 10+. Not once have I ended one of those years happy with my service.

I've had unending technical difficulties with these guys, they are hands-down the most consistently incompetent company I have ever dealt with in my life from their technicians to their exchange operators to their support staff. It's actually quite impressive that they've maintained such a monopoly on this industry for so long given how little effort they put in to match the "quality" service they've been promising for over a decade.

If you have any other option in the world besides Telstra, particularly if you need the internet to run your business, then stay away from them. Unfortunately I don't have a choice as I live in a location where literally my only option is to deal with these clowns. I cannot wait until decentralization hits the ISP industry and finally renders them redundant.

Maybe you'll have better luck than me with your experiences with Telstra, but if not, then may God help your soul. You have been warned. Good luck!

So I recently moved to the Blue Mountains in Western Sydney and we signed up to Foxtel originally for our pay TV and after a few months we saw a cable internet deal that married up with our pay tv plan.

We got Unlimited broadband on cable + unlimited phone calls to local numbers and a free modem as well. We also wifi to 5 devices, and at the end of the day it was only for a extra $60 a month so we thought we were onto a winner!!

After 2 months of being on Telstra cable broadband we call technical support and their advice was to turn the modem off and then back on. Once we confirmed that we still had no internet connection they said it must the modem. Please unplug and we will send you a new modem so we unplugged and it took over a week to get a new one sent.

We received no compensation for having no internet access. Since that happened we have gone through 4 modems in 18 mnths. We locked into a 24 mth contract and have to just put up with it till we can complete it.

In the last 2 weeks our speed has dropped to 7Mbps and they cant find cause or reason. I feel that its quality when it does work but i cant wait to change over to someone else once the contract ends - due to being randomly unstable.

I have been a Telstra customer for 3 years since moving out of home. I originally wanted a Cable Broadband service but was told it could not get connected to my townhouse (though it was available). I subsequently had to get an ADSL and phone connection. I was disappointed with this as the installation/connection fee was high in my view and I wanted quicker download speeds than previously experienced.

The ADSL connection was quite reliable without recalling any dropped connections while needing internet access. Not being located too far from the exchange also provided reasonable download and upload speeds. I have not had to call Telstra for any support or assistance since having the broadband connection so content with my service.

In the past 12 months I have had Foxtel installed via cable. I used this to enquire to Telstra about having a Cable Broadband service installed. The technician arrived and worked with me to make this connection possible. I can now say I have Cable internet with Speedboost and speeds up to 130mb/s at times. The only complaint I would have is the premium price over its competitors but since NBN is not available, I am happy to be a Telstra customer with this service.

I have been with Telstra high speed cable for years now. I have found the service to be consistently good with excellent download speeds around the 100Mbps mark.

Only occasionally are there outages but these are generally compensated financially by Telstra.

Fortunately I have really ever needed to contact support and if I ever have a problem I try to sort it out first by myself. You can contact support by phone or via their live chat service.

Overall, Telstra broadband cable is a reliable and worthwhile provided and I am happy with their service.

Telstra speed is pretty good when it works. I don't experience as many drop outs as I used to after getting my modem upgraded. Customer service isn't bad either, they do try and resolve any issues you have. Quick turnaround time for call backs which is greatness because you don't have to wait. Price is average.

We have cable internet from Telstra. Most the time is seems to work, however there are some lag periods at night where things dont seem to work. Im not sure if its the MAC computers having wifi issues, but everytime we ring Telstra, we wait for hours.
