Is Optus VDSL2 (NBN) quicker than ADSL2?

Optus NBN Tier 1 VDSL2 connection which delivers 12Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream is unfortunately not quicker than standard ADSL2+. Although the standard plan doesn't do any justice, you do have the option for paying a higher monthly premium to upgrade to the Top Speed Pack which is considerably quicker, around 5 times faster than standard ADSL2+ connection.
