Exetel started their journey in early 1990s as a technology consulting company, but soon with time, turned into one major ISP and offers products like ADSL, ADSL2+, NBN, VoIP and several other internet services to customers across Australia. Poor customer service from exetel. Went without internet connection for 28 days.. exetel said they would send a technician to my place to fix the issue and we booked a date and time which I took work off for and in the end they didn't turn up nor contact me that they were not coming. They then told me that the next available time for a technician to come would be in another two weeks time. They also refused at first to credit me for the days I went without internet and after many phone calls back and forth arguing and many times they said they would call me back and in fact they did not they eventually refunded me the money which was also the wrong amount (less). I have since given up on chasing for my money because it was an absolute waste of time. When I wanted to cancel my service seeing as I was not getting the internet service I was paying for they said I had to pay out the rest of my plan which I thought was unfair. As for the internet connect (with NBN) it frequently drops out. When I call customer service for anything the staff are mostly unhelpful. Will not be continuing with this service after my plan finishes.

I live in an area where there are limited options due to the fibres installed by Telstra. Exetel is the only provider I was able to find that could offer an unlimited broadband plan.

Pros: My experience is that the connection is usually rather fast and always reliable.

Cons: There is a long waiting period for activation. Furthermore, when I tried to change payment methods I found that the customer service I received was fairly average.

At the end of the day, I am thankful for the fact that I have a reliable and relatively fast connection with unlimited download, but would suggest improvements for customer service, particularly because some customers are paying more based on where they live.

Exetel is a full service no frills operator who offer a more budget technical support in order to maximise the value for money of your internet and phone bundle. I've personally been with Exetel since 2004 and have never had any issues. I've moved my service perhaps 7 times and signed up friends, family and even a workplace and never had an issue not solved quickly and to my satisfaction.

Living in a Opticomm neighbourhood I chose Exetel and have not looked back. Exetel is great value for money with at the time of signing up was the only one with a unlimited data plan. I have never had any drop outs or conneciton issues.
